سُئِلَ شَيخنَا رَحمَه الله عَن لعن يزِيد بن مُعَاوِيَة وماذا يَتَرَتَّب على من يُحِبهُ وَيرْفَع من شَأْنه فَأجَاب أما اللَّعْن فَنقل فِيهِ الطَّبَرِيّ الْمَعْرُوف بالكيا الهراسي الْخلاف فِي الْمذَاهب الْأَرْبَعَة فِي الْجَوَاز وَعَدَمه فَاخْتَارَ الْجَوَاز وَنقل الْغَزالِيّ الْخلاف وَاخْتَارَ الْمَنْع وَأما الْمحبَّة فِيهِ وَالرَّفْع من شَأْنه فَلَا تقع إِلَّا من مُبْتَدع فَاسد الِاعْتِقَاد فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ فِيهِ من الصِّفَات مَا يَقْتَضِي سلب الْإِيمَان عَمَّن يُحِبهُ لِأَن الْحبّ فِي الله والبغض فِي الله من الْإِيمَان وَالله الْمُسْتَعَان
Shaikh al Islam Hafiz Ibn hajar Asqalani رحمہ اللہ was asked regarding cursing Yazeed and what is the ruling on the person who praises, shows gratitude and love Yazeed.
Hafiz Ibn hajar رحمہ اللہ replied.
Imam Tabari رحمہ اللہ mentioned difference of opinion regarding cursing Yazeed upon four Madhab on the permissibility and non permissibility, he had an opinion on the permissibility and Imam Ghazali رحمہ اللہ mentioned against his opinion and had an opinion of non permissibility.
As far as Having love for Yazeed to glorify him it is something done by some heretics and innovator (bidati) as Yazeed had such qualities that those who love and praise him deserves what Yazeed deserves means losing the faith because loving for the sake of Allah and having hate for the sake of Allah is from the part of faith...
