Saydna Ibn Abbas رضیﷲ عنه said:
اني احب ان اتزين للمراة كما احب ان تتزين لي المراة لان الله تعالى يقول "ولهن مثل الذي عليهن بالمعروف"
I love to adorn and beautify myself for my wife just as I love for her to adorn and beautify herself for me, because Allah says: "ولهن مثل الذي عليهن بالمعروف And they have rights similar to the rights which are over them, according to what is reasonable". [Surah Al Baqarah 2/228]
[Musannaf ibn abi Shaybah #19608, Sahih]
Saydna Ali رضیﷲ عنه went to a tailor and bought a shirt and said to him, "Stretch out the shirt." When the tailor extended it and reached the edges of the sleeves, Ali said, "Cut above that and cuff it." The tailor followed his instructions, and Saydna Ali wore the shirt saying:
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي مَا أَتَوَارَى بِهِ وَأَتَجَمَّلُ بِهِ فِي خَلْقِهِ.
"Praise be to Allah, who has clothed me with what I can conceal myself with and beautify myself with among His creation."
[Fadhail Sahaba by Shaikh ul Islam Imam Ahmad #903, sanad classified authentic by Shaikh Wasiullah Abbas]
Yahya bin Abdul Rahman al Hanzala said: I went to Muhammad bin Hanafiya and he came out wearing a red shawl and his beard was full of fragrance, I asked him about it, he replied:
إن هذه المِلحفة ألقتها علي امرأتي ودهنْتني بالطِّيب، وإنهن يشتهين منا ما نشتهيه منهن،
This shawl is wrapped around me by my wife and she anointed me with this fragrance. They (the wives) desire from us what we desire for them (i.e. beauty/husn).
