You guys must have read and heard that Kufans (Shia of Ali) of Iraq wrote letters full of sacks and invited Saydna Hussain to come in Kufa and later betrayed him like they betrayed his father Saydna Ali رضیﷲ عنه but you probably never came across this fact that these Kufans used to write letters to Saydna Hasan prior Saydna Hussain with persistence to come to Kufa and and they incite him to wage war against Saydna Muawiya رضیﷲ عنه.
Yazeed ibn Aasim reported that: I went out with Saydna Hasan رضیﷲ عنه and he had a slave girl who had henna on her fingernails, meanwhile a sack full of letters arrived so Imam Hasan said to his slave girl to bring water in the vessel of henna. Then, he submerged the letters in the water, he neither opened them nor read them, hence I asked: O Abu Mohammad (Hasan) to whom these letters belong? He replied:
مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ مِنْ قَوْمٍ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ إِلَى حَقٍّ، وَلَا يَقْصُرُونَ عَنْ بَاطِلٍ، أَمَا إِنِّي لَسْتُ أَخْشَاهُمْ عَلَى نَفْسِي، وَلَكِنِّي أَخْشَاهُمْ عَلَى ذَلِكَ، وَأَشَارَ إِلَى الْحُسَيْنِ
"It came from people of Iraq, these are the people who never uphold the truth and don't hesitate from being on falsehood, I have no fear of them upon me however, I fear them for him, pointing towards Imam Hussain رضیﷲ عنه.
